6 Ways to Enjoy Your Pool This Summer

Thinking or enjoying your pool this summer? Ah yes, 2022. In many ways, just a painful extension of 2020 and 2021. Essentially, it’s a very weird and downright difficult time. Money is tight, time is tight, and public health and safety are..rocky to say the least, making this a great time to find creative, new, and engaging ways to spend time at home both alone and with loved ones in order to save money, stay safe, and stay healthy. In other words, it’s a great time to refocus on your very own backyard oasis, and get the most joy and use out of your pool this summer.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget your pool is not just a decorative extension of your backyard or a place to grill and invite the kid’s friends over. It can be much more! Here are 6 often overlooked ways to enjoy your pool this summer, there’s something in here for everyone.

Forget that home office (or your couch). Why not work by the pool? Consider setting a timer for long work intervals of 30-45 minutes and then take 5-10 minute swimming or sunbathing breaks. This is a great way to reduce distractions (think: no tv, no inviting bed or couch, no kitchen filled with snacks), get some vitamin D, and take a healthy screen break. It’s a win-win.

Enjoying the Pool this Summer For the Family

Why have dinner at a crowded beachside restaurant this weekend, where you’ll likely have to wait over an hour just to be seated? Instead, opt for take out by the pool at sunset. You get the water, the peace and quiet, immediate serving and seating, and you can even support a local business in the process. As a bonus, the kids can play while the grown ups hang out and continue with after dinner conversation – no tantrums necessary.

For the Avid Happy Hour Goer

We all know those happy hour drinks might be cheap, but they still add up. While going to the occasional after work happy hour might be a great bonding experience with coworkers and a convenient and quick way to catch up with friends, why not invite your coworkers over? This can allow you to further strengthen bonds, save (a LOT) of money, and maybe even have fun trying new cocktail recipes.

For the Dog Mom

Dogs are great, but they’re also a lot of work. Especially high energy ones. Here’s a great solution; exercise your pooch from the comfort of your home by teaching them to swim. It’s a great exercise that’s both easy on the joints, and low effort for busy days since it’s readily accessible and quickly tires out that energetic pup. As a bonus, consider a conversion to a salt water pool for extra health benefits for your fur baby and you. You may also want to invest in pool resurfacing to make sure there are no dangerous cracks, leaks, or surfaces that may pose a danger to your dog or your pool.

For the early riser

Enjoy a cup of coffee by the pool as you plan your day, listen to an audiobook, or simply take a couple of minutes to yourself. Consider a travertine pool deck or a similar material that doesn’t retain heat as much for an extra comfortable morning that you can even enjoy barefoot.

For the Health Nuts

Get some exercise yourself! Swimming is easy cardio, and a great full body exercise that builds muscle and endurance throughout the whole body. It’s also easy to squeeze in during busy days since it’s right at home, and easy on injuries. This is another case in which we would strongly suggest investing in pool resurfacing, a renovated pool deck, replacing your pool tiles, and/or installing pool lights to make your oasis as comfortable and practical as possible for your sweat sessions.

Personally, we love Florida Summers, as a pool renovation company we understand the need to have a beautiful, comfortable, and practical space during this time of the year and are here to assist with those needs.
