Now more than ever, lot’s of people’s budgets are..stretched thin (to say the least). The cost of living seems to be rising at an unprecedented rate and it seems like just about everything is rising in price, while wages aren’t necessarily following suit. So we’re stuck with the task of finding a balance between enjoying life and spending on things that bring us joy, and saving for a rainy day – or flat out pinching pennies, and unfortunately swimming pool renovation can be quite high in cost.
We wouldn’t be in the pool business if we didn’t believe pools were a major source of joy. So, if you ask us, pool remodeling is a worthwhile investment in, well, joy. However, we would never advise you to spend money that is needed elsewhere. Luckily, there are small updates you can make to your pool that doesn’t need to cost you a whole month of living expenses.
So if you’ve been craving a small upgrade in your outdoor living, but don’t have several thousand to spend on your pool remodel cost.
Consider these budget-friendly pool renovation ideas:
- Pool lights – Lighting is probably at the top of most budget-friendly update lists, and pools are no exception. There is probably no easier – or cheaper – way to transform your pool and overall yard space than a set of LED lights. LED pool light installation can add style and personality to your particular space because of the flexibility and ease of installation. Colors? Submerged lights? Elevated lights? The options are limited only by your creativity and your tastes.
- Baja steps – This feature is unique because it not only adds a sense of style but it also adds function and safety to your pool. Whether you have small children, pets, or just like lounging around in the Florida heat, this feature will benefit your pool. A Baja step is essentially a large protruding ledge/step in your pool. Larger than stairs, but not quite long enough to be unsightly. It’s a ledge meant to create a shallow pool area where one can sunbathe and dip their toes in the water, the kiddos can play, or pets can keep us company.
- Waterline tile – You can get waterline tiles for your pool for under $1,000 while adding a LOT of visual appeals and freshening up the look of your space. Since the surface area is only a fraction of your entire pool it will be much cheaper than tiling the entirety of the pool or replacing your pool pavers while also covering the most visible area of the pool. This is the same concept as a kitchen or bathroom backsplash, it’s meant as a focal point for the eye and a frame for the area.
- Saltwater system – conversion to saltwater pool systems may be cheaper than you’d think. In fact, most people are able to convert their pools for $2,500 or less. This includes the saltwater generator which carries the bulk of the start-up costs. Saltwater pools are less irritating to the skin, eyes, hair, and lungs than traditional chlorine pools, may carry health benefits, and can actually save you money in the long run due to eliminating the need to buy expensive pool chemicals. Additionally, your pool’s surface lasts longer, saving you money on pool resurfacing costs.
There you have it: times are tough, but it’s always okay to want to feel the most at home – and the most joy – that you can when spending time outdoors by your pool. After all, we’re spending more time at home than ever before (in all of history!), we might as well make it worth it.
Budget, do your research on pool resurfacing companies and pool renovations near you. Dream big, and make your dreams happen. We never want price to stand in the way of your pool renovations, so we offer NO obligation pool renovation quotes. If you like what we have to offer, great! If it’s not in the budget, we’re happy to discuss what is – or wait for a better time to fulfill all of your pool remodeling wishes.
